South Island, rain or showers in most places, with heavy falls in the north. Gale or severe gale northerlies in Marlborough at first.

Tuesday

North Island, periods of rain in the south. Scattered showers further north, clearing in Gisborne. South Island, periods of rain in Marlborough, with scattered showers elsewhere. Snow to 700 metres in the far south, and to 900 metres about the southern main divide.

Wednesday

Showers, becoming isolated in the east and clearing central New Zealand.

Chatham Islands

Cloud increasing Monday, with rain developing late in the day and northerlies rising to gale. Rain easing to a few showers on Tuesday as winds turn fresh westerly. Showers on Wednesday, more frequent from evening with westerlies rising to gale.
